Tsé Bitʼaʼ (Shiprock)
In Navajo oral history, Shiprock is said to represent the great bird that carried the Navajo people to their current homeland, known as the Diné Bikéyah. According to the legend, after a long journey, the bird landed and transformed into the towering rock formation we see today. Its wings are said to have folded against its sides, creating the spires and ridges.
